Senior Coaching Consultant
Harjit Singh Gill is a senior coach consultant for Cadence. Initially trained as a social worker, Harjit has worked in the healthcare and healthcare business fields for over 10 years, dedicated to supporting others to grow and thrive. Harjit’s experiences as a therapist, healthcare consultant, and hospital leader inform his work with clients. He draws upon these to aid in the particular professional development goals and needs of each individual.
Harjit’s primary work experience has been in healthcare settings. He has largely worked in “specialty mental health” services, providing care for those seriously afflicted by mental health conditions. He has worked in outpatient clinics in East Oakland, and the bulk of his early career was spent in Alameda County’s primary inpatient psychiatric emergency room and hospital, treating people who were in crisis or in need of emergency psychiatric support. During his time in the field, Harjit rose from a per-diem staff member to a full-time social worker, and then to Supervisor of Behavioral Health at John George Psychiatric Hospital, a leadership role in a leading Bay Area healthcare organization. He recently relocated to take on a role rebuilding a large private sector hospital’s intake department as a hospital director, a role he currently enjoys.
He holds a BA in Sociology from California State University, Chico, an MA in Humanities from the New College of California, and a Masters in Social Work from CSU East Bay. Harjit is licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California, and his work was highlighted by his alma mater CSU East Bay in 2017 under their esteemed “40 Under 40” designation.
Harjit’s coaching centers the importance of understanding the stage of change the client is situated in and applying the relevant lessons of his clinical background when coaching to help achieve the ideal resolution of conflict and a plan for success. Harjit believes that cultivating self-awareness and self-reflection with gentle, kind, and honest feedback is key to making progress. Harjit’s goal is to help the client reach their goal and to help them gain insight and perspective along the path to achievement.
